15/01/2008 - Glasgow underground is in the process of implementing mobile phone and wifi support
[Return to News Index]
Work will begin later this month to install a mobile and wi-fi network on
Glasgow's subway system.
Operator Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has signed a deal with
Arqiva to provide a combined cellular and wi-fi network at all 15 stations.
For those with ES this may well prove an insurmountable obstacle, rendering
underground journeys on the Glasgow subway impossible. According to the news
story there are already plans to trial mobile phone support in the London
underground at some point in 2008.
