Brundtland made headlines around the world when she was in an interview with Dagbladet 2002 revealed that she, CEO of WHO, had introduced a ban on cell phones in his office in Geneva. She said she was sick of radiation from mobile phones and PCs, and knew if anyone in the room had a mobile on. This while the WHO’s official position was that mobile phone radiation was totally harmless.

“So she is in a situation now that she can stay online, and it is very active. What that has meant that she has gone from not being there to be there, I should not comment. I will not iron your over it. But it is a reality for her, the way I see it. “

It was Health Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in an interview with Eve magazine Friday came in on his former chief of the World Health Organization (WHO), Gro Harlem Brundtland’s strained relationship with cell phones and electromagnetic radiation.
In May, the Health Minister Jonas Gahr Støre with current government policy in the field, based on an expert committee: Mobile radiation and the like are either harmful or cause health problems. It was in that context he commented on the world’s most famous electric sensitive person.
“So I have not talked to her about this recently, but I now communicate with her on this, because she uses a self, said Gahr Støre, and held up his cell phone.
“So she is in a situation now that she can stay online, and it is very active. What that has meant that she has gone from not being there to be there, I should not comment. I will not iron your over it. But it is a reality for her, the way I see it. “
– Gro Harlem Brundtland has begun to use mobile phone
The world’s most famous electric sensitive person, Gro Harlem Brundtland, now use mobile phones and is an active user of the Internet. It is evident from this interview with Health Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
“I note that she, as far as I can see, does not currently have problems with it. What has caused the transition of the experience for her, I’m not an expert to consider, “added Gahr Støre.
El-over-sensitivity to the doctor, the former prime minister and leader of the World Health Organization, the past decade has been used and criticized by professionals, NGOs and politicians both in Norway and internationally.
Health Minister Gahr Støre’s statement provoked therefore heads.
– Avoids talking on cell phone
Eve magazine presented the Friday Gahr Støre statements Gro Harlem Brundtland, through her press adviser Jon Morland. Saturday Night Morland said that he, on behalf of Brundtland, in light of the article in Eve magazine, will come with the following clarification. It is by what Eve magazine knows her first time commenting on his relationship with electromagnetic radiation, since the interview in 2002.
She avoids using cell phone to talk, but it has occurred in a very few cases
“Gro Harlem Brundtland use daily pc fixed line in their work. Secondarily, she uses a mobile device (mobile brand name, ed.’s Note) for email. She avoids using cell phone to talk, but it has occurred in a very few cases, “writes Morland in the email to Eve magazine.
Minister: Gros version is right
Eve magazine got sun roof in Health Minister Jonas Gahr Støre for a comment to Gro Harlem Brundtland clarification.
Gros clarification is of course just the right version.
– Her clarification is of course just the right version of her experience of her use of cell phones and the Internet. I made it clear though that I have not talked to her about this in detail. So to the extent there has been any doubt about this, as she clarified it now says Gahr Støre.
– You do not think you left her as a bit far, for the benefit of government policy in the field?
– No. I think I tried to relate mainly to a question from Eve magazine.Norwegian authorities have their advice in relation to the use of mobile phones, based on the factual knowledge we can source. But as I said in the interview, there is no reason to doubt or iron over the people who think they have negative experiences, says Gahr Støre.
Grom Children and mobile
Research indicates that between 75,000 and half a million Norwegians consider themselves el-sensitive. Brundtland clarification shows that she still feel compelled to take significant modification of the use of mobile phones and the Internet. Eve magazine has repeatedly asked Gro Harlem Brundtland for an interview about her relationship with electromagnetic radiation. But the former prime minister and the WHO CEO comes rarely appear in the media, and preferably to front their efforts against global poverty and distress, which through the international organization The Elders, founded by Nelson Mandela.
But last year said Brundtland on electromagnetic hypersensitivity at a conference in Canada.
Gro: – I have been heavily criticized for scaring people
Gro Harlem Brundtland speaks out about mobile phone radiation, after ten years of silence about its electromagnetic hypersensitivity.
Where she once explained how she was el-hypersensitive. “I have been criticized for scaring people from using cell phones, because I told people the truth about my disease,” she said, according to a professor who blogged about her statements. She was further quoted as saying that she was exasperated that people who believed in electrical hypersensitivity were not taken seriously.
“Should you let your children use mobile phones all day long? No! “Shall Brundtland said.
When Eve record set before her quotes for her press adviser Jon Morland, he replied only: “Without going into the matter, make a note of that Gro has never used the term electrical sensitivity”
Beyond this, he did not come with any corrections.
To struggle for power sensitive
Høie do not believe in electromagnetic hypersensitivity
-El-sensitive will make it harder

Jerry Flynn is a retired Canadian Military Officer. He has 22 years’ experience in Canada’s and NATO’s army electronic warfare units, and he presents overwhelming evidence that supports his belief that the proliferation of devices such as smart meters, Wi-Fi, cell towers and cell phones, baby monitors . . . is both negligent and highly dangerous, especially to our new and future generations.
Are we ignoring the dangers of mobile phones? – Telegraph – 30/05/2013
To some scientists, they’re deadlier than cigarettes; to others they’re harmless. Will we ever know the truth about mobile phones? Julia Llewellyn Smith finds out.
By Julia Llewellyn Smith, 7:00AM BST 30 May 2013
In 1996, Neil Whitfield, a sales manager from Wigan, was given his first mobile phone by his company. “It was introduced as a nice, cuddly friend. It had all of your mates’ contact details on it. It was always in your pocket or pressed against your ear,” he says.
However, within a short space of time Whitfield, a father of six who was then in his late thirties, started suffering terrible headaches. “Then my hearing deteriorated and I kept forgetting things, which was not like me.” A scan revealed he had an acoustic neuroma – a rare brain tumour that grows on a nerve in the brain near the ear. Without surgery, he was told, he had five years to live.
“The specialist asked if I used a mobile a lot. When I said yes, he replied: ‘Mobiles will be the smoking gun of the 21st century.’ He sowed a seed in my mind.” Whitfield, now 56, is one of a growing and vociferous group of people who are convinced that mobile phones are killing us. A phone, they point out, along with cordless phones and Wi-Fi, works in the same way as a miniature microwave, emitting electromagnetic radiation.
Admittedly, this radiation is at too low a frequency to heat human tissue, but there’s a large amount of evidence that it could affect the protective barrier between the brain and blood, allowing toxins to enter. There is also evidence that mobiles could be damaging our immune systems, reducing sperm motility and causing tumours, Alzheimer’s, strokes and autism.
It’s not just individuals like Whitfield who believe this, but a number of eminent scientists and physicians. Two years ago, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), an agency of the World Health Organisation, published a report, reclassifying radiation from mobiles from category 3, with “no conclusive evidence” of causing cancer, to category 2b – a “possible human carcinogen” – along with diesel exhaust, chloroform, jet fuel, lead and DDT.
Wireless Radiation Health Impacts on Talk Radio on 27/05/2013
In the last five years, new scientific studies show that the situation regarding wireless radiation pollution is far worse than thought in 2007. As wireless devices have crept further into everyday life, even for children, most people around the world now have far more daily exposure than five years ago.
The levels at which undesirable effects on health and well-being are seen is much lower. The levels of concern at have dropped lower in 2012 by 10s to 100s of times. There is much greater involuntary exposure, and it is nearly unavoidable even for people who choose not to ‘go wireless’ (second-hand radiation effects). These exposures are linked to a variety of adverse health outcomes that may have significant public health consequences.
Andrew Geller hosts this show about wireless radiation pollution and its health impacts. His guests are Magda Havas, Associate Professor of Environmental & Resource Studies at Canada’s Trent University and Michael Bevington, a trustee of Electro-Sensitivity UK. Michael just updated his report on electromagnetic sensitivity summarizing over 1800 published scientific papers on the matter.
27/04/2013 – Complaint to the HPA concerning failure to provide appropriate precautionary advice regarding radiofrequency electromagnetic fields
Following the World Health Organisation’s International Agency for Research on Cancer
(IARC) classification of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as Group 2B possibly carcinogenic to humans1, we, the undersigned organisations and individuals, hereby formally lodge a complaint to and against the Health Protection Agency with regard to their failure to provide appropriate precautionary advice on pulsed microwave-emitting technologies other than mobile phones, particularly the use of wireless networks in schools and homes, and Smart Meters in homes and small businesses.
In addition, we wish to further include a complaint about the absence of any reference to the IARC classification of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as a Group 2B possible human carcinogen in their recent submission to the Commons Select Committee Inquiry into Smart Meter Roll-out. This is a particularly serious omission in view of the fact that the presently proposed smart meter roll-out would affect the entire population as even those who opt out would be exposed to the pulsed radiofrequency microwaves of meters in their neighbourhood.
Complaint to the HPA concerning failure to provide appropriate precautionary advice regarding radiofrequency electromagnetic fields
In the HPA response2 to the IARC statement, dated 31 May 2011 –
“HPA advice is that there is no clear scientific evidence of a cancer risk from exposure to radiofrequencies at levels below international guidelines but the possibility remains. The HPA has always advocated some precaution in the use of mobile phones in case there are long term effects which are presently unknown. Given the possibility of long term cancer effects, excessive use of mobile phones by children should be discouraged (emphasis added).”
However, when referring to Wi-Fi –
“HPA advice on the use of wireless networks in schools and elsewhere is also consistent with this classification. Exposures from Wi-Fi equipment are much less than from mobile phones, and are well within international guidelines, so there is no reason why schools and others should not continue to use the technology (emphasis added).”
Likewise, in the HPA smart meter information sheet3 –
“HPA acknowledges that there remain some areas of scientific uncertainty and HPA’s advice takes this into account (emphasis added).”
Nevertheless –
“HPA consider exposure to radio waves does not provide a basis to decline having a smart meter (emphasis added)”.
This is justified by stating that –
“Using mobile phones leads to greater exposures than other radio devices in widespread use by the general public, including smart meters (emphasis added)”.
Failure to promote precaution in the case of other wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and smart meters cannot be justifiedon the grounds that exposures are less than from mobile phones. This does not take into account the fact that exposure from Wi-Fi in schools and smart meters is constant whereas mobile phone exposure only occurs during phone calls. Furthermore, mobile phone exposure is voluntary4 whereas in the case of Wi-Fi in schools and smart meters in homes it is involuntary, i.e. people are being forced to be exposed to the pulsed microwaves and cannot choose to exercise precaution. This is arguably a violation of the Right to Health Protection as outlined in Section 4 of the article ‘Precautionary Environmental Protection and Human Rights’ (2007).5
The HPA has failed to mention that studies have reported biological effects of Wi-Fi and similar wireless signals in humans. Such evidence, whilst limited, is important for enabling adults and schools to make choices about whether they wish to reduce their exposures, from an informed position.
Regarding the recent (February 2013) written evidence6 submitted by the HPA to the Commons Select Committee Inquiry into Smart Meter Roll-out, although links were provided to somerelevant documents, there was no reference whatsoever in the submitted document to the fact that radiofrequency electromagnetic fields have been classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans. The HPA mentioned a precautionary approach in their response to the 2012 AGNIR Report 7, i.e.
“Excessive use of mobile phones by children should be discouraged, while adults should make their own choices as to whether they wish to reduce their exposures, but be enabled to do this from an informed position (emphasis added).”
However, when referring to this reportin the recent submission to the Commons Select Committee only the ‘main conclusion’ of AGNIR was quoted where it was stated that
“although a substantial amount of research has been conducted in this area, there is no convincing evidence that radio wave exposures below the ICNIRP guideline levels cause health effects in adults or children (emphasis added).” 8
In 2011 the IARC concluded that there was enough convincing evidence that radio wave exposures below the ICNIRP guideline levels might cause cancer to classify radiofrequencies as a Class 2B possible human carcinogen. The Commons Select Committee Inquiry into Smart Meter Roll-out, as well as the general public, would be better enabled to make informed choices about wireless technologies if the HPA had mentioned the decision of the IARC and offered appropriate precautionary advice.

8. It should be pointed out that we strongly disagree with this AGNIR statement. A large body of published scientific data has found that pulsed radiofrequency microwaves below the guideline levels can cause biological and adverse health effects, although many of these papers were omitted from the AGNIR 2012 report. Many studies were described in the Bioinitiative Report 2007 and 20129 and the Ecolog Report (2000)10. As stated in the Benevento Resolution (2006) from the International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety, “Arguments that weak (low intensity) EMF cannot affect biological systems do not represent the current spectrum of scientific opinion.”11

Excerpt:
James Rubin, King’s College London published a blindingly biased paper in which he argued that there was no such thing as electromagnetic hypersensitivity (no robust evidence). His numerous studies on electromagnetic hypersensitivity are all negative, but that negativity was manufactured by employing experimental designs and statistical analysis that were virtually guaranteed to produce negative results. By means of jaundiced analyses he comes to the conclusion that EHS sufferers have a purely psychosomatic disease, a viewpoint that has untold benefits for his clients and funders, particularly the cell-phone companies.
His work is a scientific Ponzi scheme in which he gets money from the phone industry effectively by promising negative results, creates and publishes such results, and is then rewarded by the industry with even more funds, like petting a trained dog. The natural consequence of his work is to stigmatize EHS sufferers as neurotics who need the care of a psychiatrist, not an internist or allergist. Rubin is almost a perfect example of a scandalous scientist in a scandalous system that consists of cell-phone companies having enough money to buy any results they want, dependable trained dogs who produce the desired results, and scientific journals such as Bioelectromagnetics that publish the results without properly vetting them, and without insistence on simultaneous publication of conflict-of-interest statements.
06/11/2012 – ‘Zapping in head’ from mobiles led son to kill himself: Michael Nield – Cambridge News
A university graduate committed suicide after a lengthy battle with a sensitivity to mobile phones, an inquest heard.
Oxford graduate Michael Nield suffered with electro sensitivity – the term used to describe someone who has an unhealthy sensitivity to a particular source of electricity.
In Michael’s case it was mobile phones and phone masts. He had to sleep with a microfibre tent over his bed to reduce the radiation.
He sometimes even had to wear a micromesh body suit when he was out, and his parents, Clive and Barbara, had to move from their home in Herefordshire to the small village of Wardy Hill, near Ely, where there was less exposure to mobiles and phone masts.
Barbara too suffers with the same sensitivity, although it is not as extreme.
On Sunday, June 3, 36-year-old Michael, who was living with his parents in Main Street, Wardy Hill, took his own life, William Morris, coroner for North and East Cambridgeshire, has ruled at an inquest.
Michael’s father found his body inside a car parked on a grass track near their home.
Michael, a gifted musician, had drunk a bottle of vodka and taken an overdose of tablets.
Speaking at the inquest, his mother, a volunteer at Ely Cathedral, said her son had “tried everything” to improve his quality of life.
She said: “Unless people have electro sensitivity they just don’t realise what sort of effects it has. He tried everything to get better. He sought help, he ate a specific diet and he tried so hard.”
She said he sometimes wore a micromesh suit or a hat with mesh to cover his face in a bid to keep phone radiation away.
She said: “He would just get constant zapping in his head. I know the feeling as I get it myself, although not on the level that Michael did.
“That’s why we moved to Wardy Hill as it’s so remote. He did still sleep with a microfibre tent over his bed though, which did help.
“We saw it as a positive step but looking back it was his way of making a last-ditch attempt to be normal and put his illness aside. But that was obviously something he couldn’t do.”
Sarah Dacre, a trustee of ElectroSensitivity UK, said: “It’s extremely upsetting to hear of Michael’s death. I knew him, having received a number of emails from him.
“Sadly the condition is not recognised by the NHS, but it is very real, and we get an average of one suicide a year among those on our books.”

The World Health Organisation (Who) defines electrosensitivity and similar conditions as ‘symptoms that are experienced in proximity to, or during the use of, electrical equipment, and that result in varying degrees of discomfort or ill health in the individual and that an individual attributes to activation of electrical equipment”.
But the organisation adds that while patients suffer from real health problems “there is no known biological marker or any diagnostic test” for it.
Who has also warned about using commercial products which claim to help reduce symptoms and against home measurement of signals, and says added psychological issues such as stress caused by the introduction of new technologies could be a causative factor.
Research into electrical sensitivity has been increasing in the past five years.
A spokesman for the charity ElectroSensitivity UK said its objective was to get ES recognised and find the best ways of easing it.
25/02/2013 – BBC Inside Out South – Electrosensitivity ‘Wifi Refugees’
On 25th February 2013, The BBC covered the impact of electro magnetic radiation, Wifi and mobile phones on health and the prevalence of electro sensitivity (ES or EHS). The programme featured former electronics expert and latterly, Emf Refugee, Phil Inkley in his caravan in remote an uninhabited part of rural Hampshire.
With many thanks to ES-UK Trustees, Professor Denis Henshaw, and medical doctor Andrew Tresidder for helping viewers understand aspects of EHS the possible source of their headaches, tinnitus, sleeplessness and heart rhythm variability.

28/04/2012 – The AAEM has issued a position paper on the suspected health effects of electromagnetic fields
The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) today issued a position paper on “Electromagnetic and Radiofrequency Field Effect on Human Health,” including wireless technologies and smart meters.
Today’s report on electromagnetic fields takes a strong stand that society must acknowledge the biological effects of electromagnetic fields, educate the population about the risks from wireless technologies, and develop safer technologies. The group, AAEM, is an international association of physicians and professionals that has been dedicated to expanding the knowledge of human health in relationship to the environment since 1965, They have been first to recognize many conditions, including Gulf War Syndrome, chemical sensitivity and the role of mold in the development of systemic illness.
In its new report, “Electromagnetic and Radiofrequency Fields Effect on Human Health”, AAEM is calling for:
1. An immediate caution on Smart Meter installation due to potentially harmful RF exposure.
2. Accommodation for health considerations regarding EMF and RF exposure, including exposure to wireless Smart Meter technology.
3. Independent studies to further understand the health effects from EMF and RF exposure.
4. Recognition that electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a growing problem worldwide.
5. Understanding and control of this electrical environmental bombardment for the protection of society.
6. Consideration and independent research regarding the quantum effects of EMF and RF on human health.
7. Use of safer technology, including for Smart Meters, such as hard-wiring, fiber optics or other non-harmful methods of data transmission.
The new position paper from the American Academy of Environmental Medicine comes on the heels of AAEM’s letter to the California Public Utilities Commission [https://electromagnetichealth.org/electromagnetic-health-blog/halt-smart-meters/] in January 2012.
The AAEM position paper concludes:
“These EMF and RF quantum field effects have not been adequately studied and are not fully understood regarding human health. Because of the well documented studies showing adverse effects on health and the not fully understood quantum field effect, AAEM calls for exercising precaution with regard to EMF, RF and general frequency exposure. In an era of when all society relies on the benefits of electronics, we must find ideas and technologies that do not disturb bodily function.”
For over 50 years, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has been studying and treating the effects of the environment on human health. AAEM co-sponsored ElectromagneticHealth.org’s program on the biological effects of electromagnetic fields [https://electromagnetichealth.org/electromagnetic-health-blog/cc-video/] at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco in 2010, along with Citizens for Health, and endorsed the book, “Public Health SOS: The Shadow Side of the Wireless Revolution” [https://www.amazon.com/dp/1441458794/?tag=bescom08-20], sent to Congress in 2009, co-authored by Camilla Rees, MBA and Magda Havas, PhD.

Magda Havas has issued an update on her open letter to parents and schools regarding the widespread use of WiFi.
The purpose of the update was to outline a lot of issues that have made progress since 2009 with regarsd to potential RF related health effects, including:
1. IARC’s 2B classification of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields
2. The Parliamentary Council of Europe’s resolution on the dangers of EMFs in the environment
3. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine’s request for a moratorium on smart meters
4. The Austrian Medical Association’s diagnosis and treatment guide for EMF related illness
5. A number of other statements and public positions voiced by international groups

27/07/2012 – The man living alone in the woods to escape Wi-Fi and mobile phones
Phil Inkley has fled civilisation to escape electromagnetic fields, which he believes cause nosebleeds, headaches, convulsions and blackouts. Laura Page meets him and investigates the condition known as ‘electromagnetic hypersensitivity’.
It takes me seven phone calls and five attempts on Skype before I manage to hold a conversation with Phil Inkley. When I visit him a week later I see that the wire from his laptop dangles precariously through his caravan window and over a few metres of wet woodland to a dongle concealed in a box in the far corner of the land. Sometimes it works.
After our conversations are repeatedly abandoned because of interference and delays, Phil cycles six miles to the nearest phone box. It is out of order. The next box contains no phone. Phil texts from a mobile phone he seldom dares to use to tell me the situation and adds: “You can see I’m not just physically isolated from people, it’s very difficult to speak to them remotely too.”
28/07/2012 – The Spectrum Alliance questionnaire on light sensitivity
This questionnaire has been drawn up by the Spectrum Alliance to be completed by people who are made ill by low energy lighting. We would like to hear about you and your experiences for two reasons. Firstly, Sheila Gilmore MP, who has taken up our cause, would like to hear more case studies from the people affected. Secondly, we would like to understand more about those who have this problem.
The Spectrum Alliance is a group of charities and support groups for people who are sensitive to low energy lighting. Spectrum campaigns for the continued availability of incandescent light bulbs for people who need them for health reasons. The ban on incandescent light bulbs comes from the European Union Commission Regulation (EC) No 244/2009. This Regulation arises out of Directive 2005/32/EC which is also known as the Eco-Design Directive.
The symptoms that photosensitive people have when in the presence of low energy lighting include burning to the skin, severe headaches and lethargy as well as a wide range of other symptoms. We are also being contacted by people who have no pre-existing conditions and who suffer adverse health effects from low energy light bulbs that are not triggered by any other source. For all of these people there is no alternative to incandescent light bulbs. Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs are impossible and even the latest soft white LED, although an improvement on CFLs, is not a suitable replacement for incandescent light bulbs.
No personal information will be used for any purpose and responses will be coded prior to submission for analysis and the results will be delivered to MP Sheila Gilmore..
We are very grateful to you for taking the time to contribute to this research before 30 September 2012.
